What image formats can I download?
All the images in the site can be found in the following 3 formats:
LZW Compressed CMYK tif - most images
have a high-resolution tif option the LZW compression reduces
the size of the files and therefore reduces the download size.
Before you drop the image into a publication you may need to use
a program such as Photoshop to convert the file to an uncompressed
tif.
CMYK Jpeg - most images will include Jpeg
images, the Jpeg compression used is very light and unless the
image contains a lot of visual complexity (straight line/grids
etc) you should see no difference in quality between the Jpeg
and tif. Due to the fact that the Jpegs are CMYK they need to
be opened in such a program as Photoshop if you wish to edit them,
they will not open in programs such as Netscape or Internet explorer.
EPS - These files originated in Adobe
Illustrator and where ever appropriate have had the fonts converted
to outlines. Apart from the EPS the only other version available
for download will be the Web ready Jpeg. Please note all EPS's
on the site are vector art only (Logos). All images are saved
as tif or Jpeg.
Do all the images have clipping paths?
The majority of images have clipping paths, however
for those images that do not it is our ongoing aim to provide
all images with a clipping path.
All your images are 300 dpi, however I need an image at xxx dpi.
Images are stored as a number of pixels an image
that is 5 inches by 5 inches at 300 dpi will be 1500 pixels in
hight and width. Therefore same image therefore could equally
be 500 dpi 3 inch by 3 inch or a 7.5 inch by 7.5 inch 200 dpi
image. Look at the images we have on offer and see if they can
be made to fit your requirements. If you need an image that is
larger than those available please email us or contact us on 01733
556671.
All your images are CMYK, why are they not available in RGB?
The majority of the images that are downloaded
from this site will be dropped into publications with no modifications
at all. Whilst RGB is a preferred format for editing images and
there is inevitably some quality loss when converting from CMYK
to RGB and back again we felt that the quality loss was so slight
that it was not worth having duplicates of each image.
Can you ISDN me a file over?
We would request visitors who need only a small
number of images to download them as this will not be noticeably
slower than using Wamnet or 4sight. However if this is the only
way the image can be sent then please contact us on the following
number 01733 556671. Please note: unless explicitly specified
the image will normally be a high-resolution Jpeg.
I need so many images that it would take hours to download all the files, can you burn me a CD?
We realise many users may not wish to spend hours
downloading from our website, therefore we have a CD burning solution
in place. Please phone or contact us via email
with a list of image reference numbers if possible (these can
be gained by browsing or searching and clicking on the thumbnail
on our image website).
Some of the pages look a bit unusual on my computer?
The site was tested on Internet Explorer 4 and
above for Windows and Macintosh and Netscape 4.5 and above for
Windows and Macintosh. If you are using browsers earlier to these,
please consider upgrading you browser.
I need a picture of a model that I cannot find in the imagebank?
We have tried to make the search facility as
comprehensive as possible, however if you are not getting the
results you require try using the browse function to find your
required image. If you still cannot find the image you require
please contact us and we will try to get the image for you.
What can I and can't I use the image for?
